The catalogue description is as follows:
“Exceptionally high-quality, double-edged blade with several fullers and a rounded point. The ricasso with three fullers, into which a brass-inlaid mark has been struck on both sides (the inlay has been lost on the obverse). Above which two fullers on each side inscribed with the two-line name of the sword cutler in pseudo-French "GOILAME*PETEI" and "AV*MONTAIGE" on the obverse and in German "WILHELMEUS" and "KLEIN*AMBERG" on the reverse, also signed "Wilm Klein" in narrow lettering between the fullers. The inscriptions followed by ornamental cartouches with remnants of gilding in shallow fullers on both sides. The iron hilt of later date with a pronounced oval guard plate and faceted knuckle bow sectioned by balusters. The grip made of polished, beautifully grained burl wood with a plain grip cap. Length 79 cm.”
